Prevention
The causes of hemorrhoidal disease are still not fully understood. Two discussed aspects are unhealthy lifestyles – too little exercise, too little sleep, too much stress – and an unbalanced diet.
Eating vegetables, fruit and whole grains promotes regular digestion and as a result problem-free defecation. Drinking lots of fluids also helps. Two liters per day of water, diluted juice or herbal tea gives constipation no chance and prevents pressure on the rectum by constant straining on the toilet.
A healthy diet, regular intake of fluids and exercise to stimulate blood circulation can prevent and in some cases alleviate hemorrhoidal disease.
These recommendations should be considered even after a successful surgery.
